During my March 2019 visit to Windsor I of course wanted to have a look at the Long Walk. Me and the friend who accompanied me were too tired for a long walk after our Windsor Castle visit. However we were quite interested to see whether we could see Frogmore Cottage, the future house of […]
Autumn walk around the Epema State
Around this time of the year it is wonderful to walk around in a wood or a park. With my mother I enjoyed a stroll through the park around the Epema State in IJsbrechtum, The Netherlands, on Sunday. It wasn’t really sunny, but we were surrounded by lots of autumn colours and mushrooms.
Opening of the Royal Greenhouses in Laeken
This year the Royal Greenhouses in Laeken open their doors from 15 April to 8 May 2022. Like 2021 the smaller, elongated greenhouses can be visited. During the day visitors can choose between a long route (2,5 hours) or a short route (1,5 hours). The long route starts with a walk through the gardens of […]
Bückeburg – Castle in the fog
At the start of a wonderful wedding day in Bückeburg, Germany on Saturday – a report with lots of photos will follow – I enjoyed a morning stroll in the park and on the palace square of Bückeburg Palace, residence of the princely family zu Schaumburg-Lippe. It was still pretty cold and foggy, which especially […]
Diana & her garden – Kensington Palace
Photos: Courtesy of Historic Royal Palaces If travelling would be easier nowadays, there is one place I would love to go. I have been in London several times, but there is still something new to discover. I visited Kensington Palace only two years ago, but the recent exhibition and the new statue would have been […]
Autumn morning in the palace garden
Sunday morning it was rather cold, but sunny. When having a quick walk through the garden of Palace Noordeinde in The Hague, The Netherlands, I noticed the beautiful light as the sun was shining through the trees. I was lucky to have my camera with me. The gardens are only open during daytime.
Royal Greenhouses at Laeken
So often I had thought when seeing pictures again, I should finally visit the Royal Greenhouses at Laeken Castle, Brussels, Belgium. However for me Brussels is at least a five-hour train ride, so it is not something you’d really like to do in one day. And unfortunately the Greenhouses are only open three weeks a […]
The hidden gardens of Charles V
Some months ago I read an article in a local newspaper online about the hidden gardens of the Grand Hotel Karel V in Utrecht. I totally forgot about it, until I passed the place during my latest visit to the city. I was quite curious, so I decided to have a look. The gardens were […]
The Oranjewoud estate – An oasis of peace
Last weekend my parents took me to a place I hadn’t been anymore for nearly 30 years, but which we visited several times when I was a child. A place with a royal history. We have to go back to the year 1676 when Albertine Agnes – daughter of Frederik Prince of Orange and his […]
Queen Charlotte’s Cottage – Kew Gardens
In Kew Gardens in Richmond, London, Great Britain, you find all kind of buildings. One of them is Queen Charlotte’s Cottage, a cute cottage, that looked very lonely and abandoned when I was around in July 2006. It was closed and there was no way to have a look inside. I am not sure if […]
