It was probably the wedding of the year in Belgium. On Friday, 17 June 2016, Count Guillaume de Dampierre married Princess Alix de Ligne civilly at the Town Hall in Beloeil, Belgium, at 2pm. The religious wedding took place at the église Saint-Pierre in Beloeil on Saturday 18 June 2016. For me the journey unfortunately was a bit too long, but a few friends went to Belgium to see the wedding. A reception, dinner and ball took place afterwards at Beloeil Castle.
The groom was born on 4 May 1985 as son of Count Audouin de Dampierre – count being a courtesy title – and his wife Roselyne Alvar de Biaudos de Castéja.
The bride was born in Brussels, Belgium, on 3 July 1984, as daughter of Michel, 14th Prince de Ligne and Princess Eleonora de Orleans e Braganca, from the imperial house of Brazil. Her paternal grandparents are Antoine 13th Prince de Ligne (1925-2005) and his wife Princess Alix of Luxembourg (1929).
The couple lives in Brazil. The bride renounced her rights to the Brazilian throne.

The bridal children were Eleanor Vernet de Dampierre, Maria Sofia d’Orléans Bragance Moreira, Princess Marie de Ligne, Antoine Gillès de Pélichy, Arthur de Dampierre, Eduardo d’Orléans Bragançe C. Moreira.
800 Guests were invited for the wedding. Among them many nobles and even royals. Among the guests were Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg, Prince Félix and Princess Claire of Luxembourg, Prince Louis and Princess Tessy of Luxembourg, Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg, Prince Sébastien of Luxembourg, Prince Jean of Luxembourg and Countess Diane of Nassau, Prince Guillaume and Princess Sibilla of Luxembourg, Prince Amedeo of Belgium and his wife Elisabetta Maria, Princess Maria Laura of Belgium, the Duke and Duchess of Bragança with their elder children Afonso and Maria Francisca, Prince Ferdinand and Princess Auguste zur Lippe-Weissenfeld. Also members of the Brazilian and Austrian imperial families, Arenberg, Auersperg, Bavaria, France and many others were there. Also the brides grandmother Princess Alix de Ligne née Princess of Luxembourg attended. After the service also Queen Mathilde of the Belgians, Prince Laurent and Princess Claire of Belgium and their children Louise, Aymeric and Nicolas turned up.
