The Queen’s Corgi – A new animation film

Last week the official trailer of a 3D animated adventure film to be released in 2019. The film is produced by the Belgian company nWave Pictures, directed by Ben Stassen and Vincent Kesteloot, and written by John R. Smith and Rob Sprackling.

The description of the film reads: “The Queen’s Corgi is about the adventure of Rex, the British monarch’s most beloved dog, who loses track of his mistress and stumbles across a clan with dogs of all kinds confronting and fighting each other. During his epic journey to return to the queen, Rex falls in love and discovers his true self.”

The company Charades at least has pre-sold the film to the Baltics, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Hungary, India, Israel, Latin America, the Middle East, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, Vietnam and former Yugoslavia. And probably many more countries by now as I find it also back on Dutch cinema websites. To be honest, looking at the trailer I can hardly wait to see it.

  1. Rex is the Queen’s favourite corgi and lives with his three other corgi companions a life of luxury at the Buckingham Palace. On a visit made by President Donald Trump with his wife Melania Trump and their own (fictional) dog Mitzi, the Queen suggests that perhaps one of her corgis might prove to be a suitable mate for Mitzi, who chooses Rex, who is not pleased at all at the prospect of marrying Mitzi. After Rex evades her multiple times, Mitzi eventually chases him into the dining hall where he accidentally bites the president, deeply angering the Queen.
