No other choice on King’s Day in Groningen, The Netherlands, on 27 April 2018 than to lead the Dutch royal family through the Oude Kijk in ‘t Jatstraat and the Stoeldraaierstraat to the Vismarkt. The streets have a few nice, somewhat alternative shops, but for shopping people it is usually not really the main choice. In the Stoeldraaierstraat young internet entrepreneur Ben Woldring shows his Groningen to the royals, full of innovation, recreation and development. Nice is that the royals will pass Dinercafé Soestdijk, where Prince Maurits and Princess Marilène used to work when they were students.
King’s Day will come to an end around 1pm at the Vismarkt. Also here I had difficulties taking pictures because of a cycling race. It is quite a big square and I am not certain where they will have the stage on which the royals will stand at the end of the day. The map ends in front of the Korenbeurs. Anyway several artists will perform here. With the national anthem Wilhelmus the visit will come to an end and the royal family will leave the city.
Hopefully it will be a wonderful day with lots of nice and happy people and good weather.
